How to optimize and speed up your PC

There are some tips and tricks which can make your PC work efficiently. Let's discuss those tips and tricks below:

1. Run disk cleanup, Defragmentation and check disk:

If you are running low disk space issue on your PC, below steps will help you in managing the disc space of your PC and make your PC run smoothly. 

In order to perform these actions on your PC please follow the below steps:

Right click on the particular partition (where the OS is installed) and then click “Properties”. Then select the “Tools” tab and click on one of the tools listed here:




The "defragment now" button will arrange the data of your hard disk in a particular order so it will be easy for OS to fetch the data and will help in improving system performance. 

The disk clean up tool is used to remove the unnecessary data of your PC. This unnecessary data is nothing but the temp and log files which get stores on hard disk. 




























2. Update Windows with the latest version:

Updating your windows regularly will help to remove system bugs. Updates are nothing but the system patches which is being released by Windows or another Operating System. Installing latest updates will help to optimize your PC. 


3. Disable unused startup programs:

Disabling unused programs that run at startup will help to boot your PC quickly. Sometimes there are some unwanted programs keeps running in the background during booting the PC and this decreases the bootup speed of your machine.

In order to disable these programs, steps are given below:

Click on Windows button and open Run window and in the search box, type msconfig and hit enter. You will get a dialogue box where you can find the startup tab. We need to uncheck the programs which are not necessary. 



































For example, we can disable iTunes, Acrobat Manager, and Quicktime programs.


4. Update the antivirus and scan your PC:

Updating the antivirus and scanning your PC is one of the essential parts to keep your PC protected from viruses and malware. Keep the antivirus updated and scan your PC periodically. 

5. Uninstall the software which is no longer in use:

We can uninstall the software which we don't use anymore. It will help to free up the system memory and your system will work efficiently. 
We can follow below steps to uninstall the programs.

Click on windows button and goto control panel where we can find programs and features. After clicking there it will show us the list of installed programs and we can uninstall the unwanted program.















6. Use open source software

Most of the open source softwares are faster and light weighted than huge, expensive commercial software applications. The list below displays just a few of the open source alternatives to commonly used Windows applications.
